Welcome to the Happy Beaver Wax Bar page! If you are reading this right now, that means you are either wanting to try a new hair removal place, curious about this local Alaskan business or just wanting to dip into the waxing craze. Let me tell you a little about myself!
My name is April Cromwell, the owner and one gal show here!
I have pursued and recently opened the Happy Beaver Wax Bar after 6 years of experience in the field of esthetics. I am originally from Anchorage, Alaska. I ventured off as a young adult and lived in Toronto, Ontario, Washington State where I pursued my education in esthetics, and Florida where I spent majority of my career. I am a licensed professional in all three states but my husband and I made our way back to our hometown in 2018 and welcomed our beautiful daughter shortly after moving. At this point in my life I had been away from Alaska for about 8 years but motivated to build new memories and start a fresh chapter for my family. I fully believe you need to work hard to get to where you’re going in life and put your best foot forward always. I love all things in esthetics from facials, chemical peels, and waxing. I chose to concentrate in waxing because I love being able to connect to my clients on a personal level and feel like you are just catching up with an old friend, all while still servicing you. Works not work if your having fun right?
I have been thoroughly trained in multiple styles in waxing with hard and soft wax. I pride myself on making my clients feel as comfortable as possibly and informed about prepping and aftercare. I believe a guest fully armed with knowledge is the best kind and I welcome questions of all kinds to get you to your ultimate goal which is a SMOOTH BEAVER… pun intended! I have prepared literature I have collected and written to guide you through your pre, post, and future waxing journey.
The only things I do not welcome or tolerate is attitudes and negativity, so either check it at the door or keep on walking my friend! I think we can all agree that the world we are all living in especially in recent times has had its share of grief and heaviness weighing all around us so the least we can do is forget about it in my treatment room momentarily. I’m only interested in helping you reach your skin goals, providing you a safe and calm environment full of laughs, and good conversation.
So don’t take yourself too seriously and let’s get to waxing my beauties!

WHY THE NAME?
I went with Happy Beaver because it's something fun that brings a good laugh in conversation and something you can't forget. Like in life, I believe you shouldn't take yourself too seriously or you'll miss out on all the fun in between! Plus nobody likes a sad beaver, right?!
HOW IS HAPPY BEAVER DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PLACES?
I believe in a guest armed with knowledge is a good guest to have. I collected and prepared information for you to thoroughly feel comfortable with the before, during, and aftercare. I also believe in being grateful to all my clients and offer incentives. I want you to leave happier than you came in.
WHICH PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU TAKE?

At this time I ask you come alone and make arrangements prior to your appointment.
WHY DO PEOPLE WAX INSTEAD OF SHAVE?
Waxing is preferred by many due to the low maintenance of it. Shaving is irritating for the skin and grows at a blunt angle that it can feel uncomfortably prickly with the grow out. Unlike shaving, waxing pulls the hair from the root causing it to grow at a fine point. The more consistent you are with your appointment schedule the hair lessens over time and comes in finer and smoother.
DO YOU HAVE A REFERRAL PROGRAM?
YES! Refer 4 friends and you get yours on the house for the same service! Your friends must mention your name. Friends must book and receive service, to make the referral count!
WHY DO YOU MAINLY DO WAX SERVICES?
It is a tremendous gift when someone allows themselves to be so vulnerable in such a way that you would not normally be. I get the common question frequently by first timers and those just surprised at the type of service, “Do people my age…" or ,”Do people my size get waxed?” The answer is YES, ABSOLUTELY!! It is just whether or not you happen to find the right waxologist for you. I believe every body, every curve, and whatever season or chapter in life you are currently at is beautiful in its own way and tells its own story.
